My name is Amanda Joy and I have been working and studying in the field of complementary medicine since 1999.
I started my career working for the NHS, in spinal injuries, my patients were quadriplegic and ventilated.
Many reported feeling extreme pain, even with a full break to their spine. My western medical practitioner colleagues simply couldn’t help reduce their pain. so, I set about researching alternative therapies. This interest and fascination eventually led me to become a full time complementary therapist.
I am delighted to announce that in May 2017 I will be joining Catherine and Sharon within the beautiful and tranquil grounds of Rudding Park Estate at the Spa Bottom Treatment Rooms.
I am a massage therapist and offer a range of massage therapies including Traditional Chinese Acupressure Massage, Hydrotherm, Thai Massage, Thai Foot Massage, Aroma Touch and Indian Head Massage.
I am also a Clinical Hypnotherapist and in contrast to common misbelieve there is nothing weird or mysterious about hypnotherapy.
Hypnosis is an inward focusing of attention through which the demands of the outside world, are switched off.
It is a state of deep relaxation, the conscious, critical, analytical mind shuts off making the unconscious mind more accessible.
Hypnotherapy is a useful tool to overcome many of life’s challenges.
Stress and anxiety can present in various forms, from backache and disrupted sleep, to aches, pains and skin disorders.
Eating disorders, weight loss or gain can cause a multitude of health problems as well as a lack of confidence, which can leads to low self-esteem and may further impact on a person’s physical and mental health.
Smoking cessation, are you ready to stop this expensive way of making yourself seriously ill and jeopardising the lives of those who care for you.
Fears and phobias about many things can have a negative impact, traveling, driving, exams, fear of the dark, crowds, heights, water, spiders, the dentist and many more, fears can all be resolved with hypnotherapy.
Feelings of shyness or inferiority, lack of self-worth, issues with confidence, anything, from presentations and academic studies to driving tests.
Emotional problems, grief, guilt and a whole range of personal problems.
My advice is whatever your problem, you won’t know what help is available until you ask.
I am available by phone, email or via my website. I am always delighted to answer any questions. All hypnotherapy sessions begin with a free consultation.
I studied counselling at The University of Aberdeen in 2005 and went on to be a part of a research project on mindfulness at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.
I teach Mindfulness and Meditation and in May I am running an introductory course on Mindfulness for adults, children and families at Ripon Library every Friday afternoon.
