No More Morning Sickness
Get Rid of Morning Sickness Naturally.
Many of us who have ever been pregnant know how awful morning sickness can be. We all know that it’s usually a good sign that the pregnancy is progressing well but it’s not pleasant and can be a horrible and isolating experience.
Morning sickness is the term used for nausea and vomiting during pregnancy and, frustratingly, you can suffer with it round the clock not just in the morning.
Did you know there are pressure points on your body that can help relieve your morning sickness? These points lie on energy channels called meridians that, from a Chinese medicine perspective, make up the anatomy of your body.
Morning sickness according to Chinese medicine is seen as Qi (energy) going in the wrong direction, it’s called rebellious Qi, I love that name as it perfectly describes the feeling of nausea. Your stomach energy should go down and out, not up but it simply isn’t doing what it should and its making you feel horrible.
By using Acupressure Massage techniques, I can help to restore the correct direction of energy flow and calm the rebellion of your Qi.
As a reflexologist I can help relieve your morning sickness by:
Using reflexology techniques to calm the stomach reflex zone
Stimulating the pancreas reflex to help balance your blood sugar levels
Balancing your endocrine system to help you adapt to your changing hormone levels
One of the most effective natural remedies I can advise you on would be aromatherapy and the use of essential oils.
Many mums to be swear by essential oils!
One great thing that these oils can offer is that they work instantly to take the edge off that queasy, nauseating feeling, which is just what someone having the initial waves of morning sickness needs.
Essential oils can help make you feel better even by simple inhalation. Their tiny bioactive molecules can enter your body via the nose and help ease off any morning sickness attacks.
It is very important that your use the right oils as some can be very dangerous when used in pregnancy.
However, with good advice and a blend made specifically for you they can be super handy, and you can carry them around with you as well!
Stress has been known to play a significant part in the onset and severity of morning sickness. Reducing stress consciously is a good thing to do but not always easy.
Hypnotherapy can help you do this in several ways.
Firstly, the simple fact that you are taking time out (usually about 30 mins) to relax and switch off means that you are reducing the body’s levels of stress hormones, calming your thoughts and focusing on positive feelings.
Secondly whilst in a deeply relaxed state you are listening to positive suggestions about releasing any tension or stress and replacing them with calmer, more positive feelings.
Thirdly whilst in hypnosis you take on new ways of dealing with the stress once you are out of hypnosis and dealing with your daily life. By being calmer, more relaxed and less stressed the symptoms of morning sickness will reduce.
Hypnotherapeutic intervention helps you re-frame your thoughts and feelings about food and in particular the smells of food giving you positive suggestions to change your responses. I can help you to become attracted again to foods that are good for you and help you to find pleasure in certain smells that used to make you feel sick.
Apart from Reflexology, Acupressure, Aromatherapy and Hypnotherapy there are many other things you can try to do to relieve the sickness including:
eating small amounts of food that you can tolerate. The key is to eat little and often.
ginger or peppermint can ease the vomiting.
have something to eat in bed before you get up in the morning. One client of mine found nibbling gingernuts or rich tea Biscuits before even getting out of bed really helped keep her sickness at bay.
listen to your body. Figure out what it is that will help you feel better.
